Effect of external surface resistance on energy need for cooling

Ivan Chmúrny

The value of the external surface resistance on the outside of the structure in the summer season affects the energy need for cooling buildings. The paper analyzes the convection and radiation in the external environment for the current climate conditions of Slovakia in terms of their impact on the value of the external surface resistance to heat transfer in the months hen it is expected cooling of buildings. Analysis of the external surface resistance to heat transfer on the outside of the structure for the monthly method of calculating the energy need for rating and cooling.

Thermal and moisture behaviour of an experimental wall structure with South and North facing walls

Marián Vertaľ, Martin Lopušniak, Anna Vašková

In the article, there are introduced particular results of a panel research, executed in the Faculty of Civil Engineering TU in Košice. Presentation of results focuses on the long term evaluation of thermal and moisture behaviour of an experimental wall structure with South and North facing walls. Evaluation represent measurements of the temperature inside the wall structure and specific weight moisture, characterised by a transverse moisture profile, determined gravimetrically. Results of measurements are compared with the values, obtained by simulating a linked transport of heat and water during a non-stationary boundary conditions.

Laws, Technical Regulations, Standards and Recommendations

Simplification and precised assessment of thermal protection and energy performance of buildings
evaluation

Zuzana Sternová

Process of design and construction of buildings is influenced by a number of legal and technical regulations, many of which have an impact not only on the process of approval of buildings, but also on the technical solution, designing, financing and transferring the finished work into use. The proposal of building structures and their details according to thermal protection of buildings and the impact on energy performance related are connected with particulars given by calculation methods. Result of assessment does not depend only on the procedures used, but also on the quality of the input data used in the calculations.

Light envelopes in view of ČSN 73 0540-2 (short development and current condition)

Petr Kučera, Jaroslav Řehánek

The problem of light structures is often associated with their weight. In a view of thermal protection is critical their response to the time change to temperature inside or outside of the building. Therefore, weight or specific weight is not sufficient for evaluation of the time change of temperature in the structures.

Realization and Quality of Buildings, their use

Curtain Walls – Advanced Solutions with Nature Based Materials

Jan Tywoniak, Antonín Lupíšek, Julie Hodková, Michal Bureš, Martin Volf

This paper describes an own development of a curtain wall panel system. The leading idea of the project was to prepare an alternative solution for replacement of old metallic curtain walls during the refurbishment of nonresidential buildings from the 1960ies – 1970ies. Presented solution use wood and wood based materials (laminated veneer lumbers) for construction of panels, with clear preference to non-oil based materials for thermal insulation. System allows for different type of external cladding (cement based boards, wooden claddings, integrated PV, support for greenery). Integration of other technical components, like venetian blinds, decentralized ventilation units, is possible. Thermal performance, noise protection and fire safety of this new envelope together with environmental oriented assessments are discussed.

First energy autonomous revitalization of the industrial area with regard to the historical value – factor of 10

Kateřina Mertenová

The revitalization of the former industrial buildings in the area Fronius is a pilot project of renovation with factor of 10 and also an example of how to renovate thermal technically inconvenient buildings in urban areas for energy autonomous and without producing emissions from the building operation. It shows a successful way to achieve energy self-sufficiency, i.e. a combination of passive energy standard with the use of locally available renewable energy sources, and also a harmonious fusion of historic buildings with modern architecture language.
